Saturday Apr 30, 2022
Saturday Apr 30, 2022
Adrian Allan joins us for the 3rd time this week to promote his new book covering the 1989-1990 World Tour. Paul's first world tour since Wings' 75-76. This tour reached many continents and Paul performed in Rio De Janeiro in front of over 180,000 people. Adrian's book covers a wide range of topics including Paul's ecological stances, Britain's politics at the time, and incorporating the "Friends of The Earth" campaign as a part of the tour.

Episode 164: ”Tug Of War” (40th Anniversary)
Saturday Apr 23, 2022
Saturday Apr 23, 2022
April 1982. April 2022. 40 years.
A milestone anniversary for one of Paul's landmark and best albums, Tug Of War.
This week Tom & Andy are joined by Mitch Axelrod (Fab4Free4All Podcast) to discuss the album, where we picked it up during our fandom. We discuss the origins of the album, the final days of Wings, the tracks, the videos for it, whether 'Ballroom Dancing' would've made for a better 3rd single, is the hate for 'Ebony & Ivory' overdone (we think so) and naturally the post-December 1980 context that the album was made in.
You never know who may be listening to ya. Cheers to Tug of War. May it continue to shine and be the epic LP Paul will be long remembered for!

Episode 163: ”Ranking The #1 Songs!”
Saturday Apr 16, 2022
Saturday Apr 16, 2022
Macca has had 11 #1 Songs between the US and UK Charts:
'Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey' (US)
'My Love' (US)
'Band on the Run' (US)
'Listen to what the Man Said' (US)
'Silly Live Songs' (US)
'With a Little Luck' (US)
'Mull of Kintyre' (UK)
'Coming Up' (live) (US)
'Ebony and Ivory' Both
'Pipes of Peace' (UK)
'Say Say Say' (US)
For fun this week Tom & Andy decided to rank these 11 based on their favourites and why. We also discuss differences between chart placements on other songs, near misses. How some songs went higher in the US (in the 70s) but in the 80s (in certain instances) Paul performed better in his native homeland. And the oft discussed "songs that weren't right for the US market" which record labels stupidly thought was important regarding songs written by Paul McCartney when it came to releasing them or pushing them. As Tom says: "It's Friggen Paul McCartney!" We know most will agree.
How do you rank Paul's #1 Singles between the US/UK? Let us know and Ram ON!

Saturday Mar 26, 2022
Chip Madinger and Mark Easter of Eight Arms To Hold You and Lennonology Tom & Andy this week for a special episode where we dive into the collaboration between Elton John and the 4 Solo Beatles.
Chip and Mark bring their vast and extensive knowledge to this very interesting topic. We examine the first time Elton had his direct first experience with the Beatles (1963), and then finally how his career coincided along John, Paul, George and Ringo throughout the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s by appearing in concert, on studio sessions and video appearances.
Chip and Mark also updated their epic work Eight Arms To Hold You in 2018 (not anything post-2000 just corrections and new info) and a PDF edition is available at their website Lennonology.

Episode 158: ’Live And Let Die’
Saturday Feb 26, 2022
Saturday Feb 26, 2022
"But in this ever changing world in which we live in.."
Yes, that is one of the many topics covered in this week's episode which we are really excited to share with you. Co-Author of the "McCartney Legacy" book, Adrian Sinclair and author/journalist Eoghan Lyng (Forthcoming Book: George Harrison in the 70s) join Tom and Andy for a discussion on 'Live and Let Die' (June 1973 release).
The quad also discuss the James Bond film of the same name, other films/themes in the Bond series. We dispel some myths, analyse the track, discuss our favourite bits, the timeframe in which it was recorded.
A fun fact - most people's first exposure to the song would be a full month before release when it was featured in the "James Paul McCartney" TV Special.
