I'm often accused of giving to littleIt's got me confused I'm split down the middleConflicting reviews of our life coming inIt's tough on a tightrope
The 1980s collaborations continue for 2 Legs! This week Tom, Andy and special guest Journalist Eoghan Lyng (Culture Sonar, U2 Every Album, Every Song), discuss the McCartney-Eric Stewart partnership. The duo had a history going back to the 60s when Eric was a member of the Mindbenders and would cross paths occasionally with The Fabs. In 1981 McCartney invited Eric coming freshly off his 10CC experience to work on Tug Of War. He also contributed significantly to Pipes Of Peace and Give My Regards To Broad Street. The partnership reached its apex with McCartney's 1986 LP Press To Play where Eric was initially tapped to co-produce but ultimately ended being credited as "Special Contribution" despite co-writing half of the album. Tom, Andy and Eoghan (who interviewed Eric Stewart in 2018) discuss a bit of Eric's background, the origins and success of 10CC and his work with Paul.

Episode 105: Memory Almost Full
Saturday Oct 24, 2020
Saturday Oct 24, 2020
"At the end of the end
It's the start of a journey to a much better place."
Clearly in 2007 it wasn't 'The End of The End'! This week 2Legs takes a reflective look back at Paul's 2007 album Memory Almost Full with special guest Ed Chen (When They Was Fab Podcast). Tom, Andy & Ed play "skip or play" with the 13 track LP, discuss some of the promotional activities associated with the album (including the "Surprise" shows), the infamous "brickwalling" production and Paul's switch to Concord Music and their thoughts on the album 13 years later. Given this week's announcement with the imminent release of McCartney III we here at 2Legs are very glad Memory Almost Full wasn't 'The End of The End!'!

Episode 104: Wingspan
Saturday Oct 17, 2020
Saturday Oct 17, 2020
On May 11th 2001 ABC aired what fans of Paul McCartney and Wings thought was going to be a Beatles Anthology style documentary on the band Wings! What they got was something completely different! Welcome Back to 2Legs! This week we revisit the mangled Wingspan documentary CD. Originally discussed as a film release then a two disc DVD set to a 88 minute made for TV show, die hards felt cheated as it felt more like a love story then a film about a band! Accompanied with a CD and book but again featured no contributions from any living member of Wings!
Tom & Andy give their candid opinions on the Film, Album and Book!

Other than working with our kid he has produced/engineered for many celebrated artists/groups such as Peter Gabriel, Yes, and Frankie Goes To Hollywood. We also get to hear him explain how he came to befriend Paul 'Wix' Wickens which ultimately led to the collaboration with Macca! Julian also was gracious enough to give us some excellent anecdotes from some of the Off The Ground sessions and some of his favorite tracks from the LP. We hope you enjoy this one as much as we did!

Episode 99: 'Off The Ground'
Saturday Sep 12, 2020
Saturday Sep 12, 2020
"People are ready to forgive a few mistakes. But let's get started, form a party, don't you know how long it takes?"
After a successful comeback album and world tour that ended in 1990 Paul was eager to get back to the studio for his follow-up to his well received 1989 album Flowers in the Dirt. Paul opted for a full band/recording live approach for the album, marking it the first time he had recorded an album with a band since Wings' 1979 swan song Back To The Egg.
The result was 1993's Off The Ground an album filled with social issues, ballads and a few rockers! Join the 2Legs crew, Tom and Andy as they invite Joe Mayo (AKA MeanMrMayo and Talk More Talk) as they give their thoughts on an album that was met with mixed reviews!

Episode 98: 'Write Away'
Saturday Sep 05, 2020
Saturday Sep 05, 2020
In 1988 Paul was asked on the TODAY show regarding the recently then published controversial The Lives of John Lennon: "If a book like this were to come out about you, what would you do?" Macca: "About me? I'd probably read that one!"
2Legs returns this week and our topic is McCartney Biographies. We trace the historiography of the very meager beginnings of McCartney-related texts first appearing in the late 70s all the way to present day with later works by Sounes and Norman. This week we are joined by Mr. Joe Wisbey, the curator of the Instagram account @BooksBeatles and he offers a very refreshing analysis on Macca and Beatles texts in general.
Tom, Andy & Joe discuss the popular ones, and a few that have flown "under the radar".

2Legs is back! We continue our look at Macca's songwriting partnerships, this time featuring Denny Laine. Denny, (formerly of the Moody Blues) was the only member of Wings to remain from its inception in 1971 until it was formally dissolved in 1981 forging one of the more significant partnerships post-Beatles for Paul. Where does this collaboration rank? Tom, Andy and returning guest author Ted Montgomery, The Paul McCartney Catalog (1967-2019) (McFarland) knock it around and also Ted informs us of the details of the second edition of his first book The Beatles Through Headphones! (McFarland). He also has agreed to give away three copies of this future release!
