Episode 93: 'Back On My Feet'
Thursday Jul 30, 2020
Thursday Jul 30, 2020
"How many days will the wet weather last"?
It's 1987. Paul McCartney's 80s "cloudy" slump reaches its peak. Broad Street/Live Aid/Press To Play/Sessions with Phil Ramone/Return To Pepperland all have yielded well below par for our kid.
A new manager, Richard Ogden jumpstarts Macca with the All The Best! campaign. He then suggests a songwriting collaboration with Mr. Declan McManus (Elvis Costello) to provide a much needed shot in the arm of creativity ultimately resulting in the critically acclaimed June 1989 release of Flowers In The Dirt.
This week on 2Legs we examine the relationship and the results of this collaboration with Mr. Tony Traguardo (Fab4Free4All). The "3 Legs" on this episode have some interesting thoughts on this overlooked collaboration in the Macca canon. Enjoy!

2Legs is back!
This week we take a bite out of a club Sandwich! Original Wings Fun Club Member expert Dale Pantz joins us to give us the backstory on 'Club Sandwich' which was the official Paul McCartney/Wings fan club newsletter which officially ran from 1977 to 1998. We learn about the club's very much home- made origins all the way up to the penultimate issue dedicated to Linda in 1998. Dale informs us who the key players were during the early days at MPL (there was an unofficial fan club pre-1977). We also learn about the involvement of Geoff Baker and Mark Lewisohn's contributions in the ensuing decades to the publication.
Be sure to also check out the video version on our YouTube Channel to see out all the images from the Club Sandwich history.

In October 2000 a text titled "Eight Arms to Hold You: The Solo Beatles Compendium" was published and quickly became what would be considered the "Holy Grail" of solo Beatles books! It is the gold standard of research, thoroughness the likes of few Beatles related texts have rarely achieved.

And of course we talk about the solo career of Paul McCartney and Chip gives us an update on Volume 2 of his Lennonology series. Chip and Mark also give us the info we all need to get the updated digital version of the book. https://www.lennonology.com/Preorder_EATHY_Live.htm
