Episode 125: "Seize The Day"
Saturday Apr 10, 2021
Saturday Apr 10, 2021
Two brand new McCartney albums in just a little over 2 years.
This is a rarity post-1986 in Macca's catalog and hasn't happened since Chaos and Memory Almost Full.
Egypt Station and McCartney III are fine records. 2018-2020 has been a prolific period for Paul. (Books, 2 Archive Sets, Suitcases and just a few coloured vinyl!)
This week Tom and Andy pick their favourite tracks from Egypt Station and McCartney III to compile a "what if" album. With McCartney III being a by-product of the pandemic it is interesting to see how this album will stand up as time marches on.
What say you? McCartney III or Egypt Station. Or neither!
Let us know and always "Seize The Day"

"Piece of Cake!"
Tom and Andy were fortunate to be able speak to Denny Seiwell and Fernando Perdomo yesterday on the forthcoming release "Ram On: The 50th Anniversary Tribute to Paul & Linda McCartney's RAM" which will be released on 14th May on Cherry Red Records.
Fernando and Denny give us an overview of the project's origins and just a handful of the over 100 talented musicians that are featured on this record. Denny also shared some terrific stories during his Wings days.
During our conversation it was very evident to us that Denny and Fernando invested the passion and care to create a new modern feel for this music while paying homage and respect to the the original album with Paul and Linda.

Choba B CCCP Vs. Run Devil Run!
Episode 124 of 2Legs features an interesting conversation that we had with Mr. David "Ghosty" Wills, DJ at WFDU 89.1.
David's show "Vintage Rock and Pop Show" features a playlist of music from 1945-75. He is well versed in the 1950s music that Paul chose to cover on both of these albums.
Tom, Andy and Dave discuss the bands Paul assembled for both albums, why they were recorded, where McCartney was at professionally and personally at the time as well as subsequent releases and promotional activities for both.
We also consider should Lennon's 1973 "Rock and Roll" be compared to either of these.
Which cover album do you prefer? Choba or Run Devil Run.

Hi Hi Hi everyone!
This week on 2Legs we welcome back Antony Rutunno (Glass Onion: On John Lennon Podcast) for the second installment on the John and Paul relationship throughout the 1970s.
This episode covers December 1971 through December 1973. Antony, Tom and Andy discuss the meetings and war of words exchanged in the press (Melody Maker etc) between the two during this time. Their responses in song to the Bloody Sunday Massacre (and potentially the two of them meeting in NY on 30 January 72).
The relationship begins to thaw out in April of 1973 when John, George & Ringo finally cut ties with Allen Klein. The trio spend time discussing the Lennon-Elliot Mintz ABC Interview from November of 1973.
The final installment on this discussion with Antony will center on the "Lost Weekend" of 74 and the alleged plans for John to meet up with Paul & Wings in New Orleans when they were recording "Venus and Mars."

Episode 122: Bootlegs!
Saturday Mar 13, 2021
Saturday Mar 13, 2021
This week on 2Legs Tom & Andy tackle the taboo history of McCartney (and to a lesser extent Beatles/Lennon) bootlegs!
This week we are joined by Mr. Tom Brennan who manages fan websites on Badfinger/Splinter and Dark Horse Records.
Tom is a longtime collector and shares his history of collecting bootlegs in the 1970s throughout the 1990s. Andy also shares his experiences with collecting boots throughout the 1990s as well. Tom is newer to the party and is still learning about the history of boots.
Collecting in a pre-digital age centers around the discussion as well as how difficult it was to come by titles back in the day.
2Legs Podcast does not endorse the purchasing of bootlegs.

Episode 121: '"Mine For Me (Or Not!)"
Saturday Feb 27, 2021
Saturday Feb 27, 2021
'Mine for Me'? or not!
Welcome back one and all to the final show of February!
This week Tom & Andy discussed 5 songs that Macca wrote in that were released as singles between the period of 1974 to 1984. They are: '4th of July' by John Christie (1974, Did not chart), 'Mine For Me' by Rod Stewart (1974, US #91), 'Leave It' by Mike McGear (1974, UK #36), 'Private Property' by Ringo (1981, Did not chart) and finally 'On The Wings Of A Nightingale' by the Everly Brothers (1984, US#50).
Did Paul McCartney's name as a songwriter have the staying power throughout the 70s and 80s to carry other artists with his songs as he did so well with his 60s songs? ('Goodbye', 'Step Inside Love', 'Come and Get It')? Or were they just average songs that weren't that great?
What say you?

Episode 119: "Kisses On The Bottom: Revisited"
Saturday Feb 13, 2021
Saturday Feb 13, 2021
"I'm gonna sit right down and myself a letter".....
These were the first words we heard back in February 2012 when Paul dropped a standards album out of the blue on us!
On the latest episode of 2Legs, (almost 9 years to the day of it's original February 2012 release), Tom & Andy dive back into Kisses On The Bottom and accompanying film Live Kisses.
We discuss everything from song choices (most of the tracks coming from Macca's Liverpool heritage with Jim Mac playing these on Forthlin Road), the superb musicians featuring Diana Krall (Mrs. Elvis Costello) among others, and wonderful production under the direction of Tommy LiPuma.
Was Paul too late to the album standards game? Like it? Hate it? Tell us
