Episode 161: ”Elton & The Beatles”
Saturday Mar 26, 2022
Saturday Mar 26, 2022
Chip Madinger and Mark Easter of Eight Arms To Hold You and Lennonology Tom & Andy this week for a special episode where we dive into the collaboration between Elton John and the 4 Solo Beatles.
Chip and Mark bring their vast and extensive knowledge to this very interesting topic. We examine the first time Elton had his direct first experience with the Beatles (1963), and then finally how his career coincided along John, Paul, George and Ringo throughout the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s by appearing in concert, on studio sessions and video appearances.
Chip and Mark also updated their epic work Eight Arms To Hold You in 2018 (not anything post-2000 just corrections and new info) and a PDF edition is available at their website Lennonology.

"But in this ever changing world in which we live in.."
Yes, that is one of the many topics covered in this week's episode which we are really excited to share with you. Co-Author of the "McCartney Legacy" book, Adrian Sinclair and author/journalist Eoghan Lyng (Forthcoming Book: George Harrison in the 70s) join Tom and Andy for a discussion on 'Live and Let Die' (June 1973 release).
The quad also discuss the James Bond film of the same name, other films/themes in the Bond series. We dispel some myths, analyse the track, discuss our favourite bits, the timeframe in which it was recorded.
A fun fact - most people's first exposure to the song would be a full month before release when it was featured in the "James Paul McCartney" TV Special.

A new series!
What if you were able to take a handful of your least favourite tracks on some Macca LP's and replace them with outtakes/b-sides from the same era. What would you take out and replace?
This week on 2Legs, Tom & Andy are joined by our "frenemy", Mr. Sam Whiles (Paul Or Nothing Podcast), "Macca In Your Attic" (YouTube) as we pick 3 songs off of London Town, Flowers In The Dirt and Off The Ground and replace them with our alternate tracks.
This was a little fun exercise for a new series that we will definitely be revisiting. Thank you once again Sam!
All the best, Tom & Andy

Episode 154: 12” Singles
Saturday Jan 22, 2022
Saturday Jan 22, 2022
A topic that we probably should have covered sooner!
But we finally get down to hardcore Macca collecting. 12" Single time! A format that reached it's peak in the mid 1980s (and in Macca world that meant about 68,000 versions of the Dance Version of 'No More Lonely Nights').
This week Tom & Andy showcase the 12" Macca singles in their collection, discussing the artwork and some of their favourite ones, ones that are hard to come by (Bravo again Tom on 'Temporary Secretary', yes Andy still needs it!). Sometimes these were referred to as "Maxi Singles".
We also discuss differing versions between US and UK pressings. The format petered out when vinyl died down in the early 90s but as late as 2014 we got another 12" only release with the standalone single 'Hope For The Future'. How diverse is your collection of Macca 12" singles?
Let us know below!
Stay Well
Tom & Andy
