Episode 208: ”21” (Jude Southerland Kessler)
Saturday May 27, 2023
Saturday May 27, 2023
We were very honored to have guest author Jude Southerland Kessler (Author of the John Lennon Series) on this week's episode of 2Legs! This week we take a look at the dynamic between John & Paul's relationship during 1963 centering around Paul's 21st Birthday which garnered some headlines in the U.K.
We discuss their trip to Paris and what their relationship was at that moment in time. Jude made 7 trips to Liverpool across the span of 7 years to do her research. Something that instantly clicked with Andy :) We discuss common friends, interviews she conducted, Liverpool geography and witnesses that were at Paul's 21st Birthday, namely Bill Harry. One of the few people who are still left from.
Jude has 5 books currently published, Shoulda Been There (1940-1961), "Shivering Inside" (December 1961-April 1963), She Loves You (May 1963-March 1964), Should Have Known Better (March 1964-March 1965), Shades Of Life" (Part 1) January 1965-August 1965. She is also the co-host of the "She Said, She Said" Podcast along with Lanea Stagg.
Thank you very much Jude for coming on and sharing some of your memories and history with us!

It was quickly blocked after, but the audio is preserved and we hope you enjoy our discussion as the songs play throughout the album. We'll do more of these later in the year!
All the best,

Episode 206: ”Rubber Soul” (UK vs. US With Friends)
Friday May 12, 2023
Friday May 12, 2023
We're back with our first new episode for May! We're going a bit different for this one. Beatle focused. This week we welcome Journalist Al Sussman (Beatlefan Magazine, contributor to Bruce Spizer books and Things We Said Today original cohost), and Ethan Alexanian (Fans On The Run Podcast) to discuss the differences between the US and UK versions of Rubber Soul. Most boomers/first generation American fans remain loyal to the US. However depending on when you first introduced to it you may have a different take. Did you discover it during the CD era when all the markets was changed to reflect the UK release? Or were you a Baby Boomer who bought it in 1965?

Luca Perasi joins us again to review and discuss his new book: Paul McCartney" Music Is Ideas The Stories Behind The Songs, 1970-1989. This is Luca's second book on Paul. He previously published the Paul McCartney Recording Sessions (1969-2013) book in 2014. This is a new approach and deeper dive into the actual songs and how they came about, when they were written, influences as well as incorporating a lot of research and information from Luca's first book.
These works will be the definitive word on all things Macca. And to think, at 600 some odd pages it only goes up until 1989! We ask Luca why a second book, how his approaches were different this time around. We discuss a few of our favorite tracks an entries in the book.
We thank Luca very much for some time spent with us and are really excited for him about his second book. It is a tremendous asset of info for all McCartney & Beatles fans and should be in every fan/collector's library!

Tom and Andy are back from the Fest and present another Interview Review episode. In the interview Paul speaks candidly about Denny Laine, John and Yoko and the Beatles. A rare thing these days.
